I’m not sure if there is a place in the world that Lynn Hill has not yet been, but if it has a rock face and a substantial challenge, it’s on her list.

Hill, a climbing legend, author and inspiration, spoke to a packed house at High Altitude Fitness Saturday evening in Incline Village. Celebrating the second night of the Grand Opening of the new climbing wall, High Altitude was again packed with people from all around the lake who came to listen to a presentation of Hill’s climbing adventures and world-wide life experiences.

“After getting my degree I went through a period of transition. I realized that climbing was more fun,” said Hill, who later added that she has a Ph.D of rock.

Hill’s good-natured charm and easy going-philosophy belays a personality that has risen to many challenges. She describes a conversation where she was told a woman would never do a 5.14 rated climb – one of the most difficult in the world.

“Well of course, I did it,” said Hill, “What was I going to do?”

Following her presentation, Hill signed posters and copies of her book, “Climbing Free, My Life in the Vertical World.”

High Altitude Fitness is located at 880 Northwood Blvd. in Incline Village.
